We are happy to have Tōnis back on Dobar House, this time with a solo track ‘Rockin’'. So, let's get into it and ask him a few questions!
-
Who are you, and what do you do?
My name is Anthony (Tōnis) and I'm an account executive at a tech company by day and deep house music producer by night.
How did your latest release on Dobar House came to be? Tell us about how you started the track, what inspired you etc.
Rockin' went through many iterations. For the main melody, I found myself drawn to a stock Ableton sound which I initially arpeggiated using a simple midi effect. After trying a few different modes, I started to hear something I liked, drew it in myself on another track, and then customized it to taste. Many of my melodies originate this way!
Where was your favourite gig so far and why was it special for you?
As of late, my favorite gig was a few months ago on a Thursday at TBA Brooklyn. Was really feeling the crowd that night, and felt that they had a real appreciation for the deep, raw style I love to play. I got to play a lot of my and my collaborator's music, and also had a few harmonic mixes that I thought were super fun.
If you had to choose: DJ-ing or producing?
Producing.
What's next for you in the coming months?
I have a few releases in the pipe, one of which is forthcoming to Martin Depp's Floppy Disks very soon. I also recently did a remix for Pinto (NYC) that will be coming out in March on his Jack City Records. Per usual, Narda and I also have a new one called "I Want" that just hit preorder on Traxsource on Phoenix Black.
Why is Dobar House the best label on the planet earth?
I love the versatility of Dobar House, and feel that at this point I have two very different releases with Tom. My collaboration with Narda on Gruv is a very techy sounding project, whereas Rockin' is an old school, almost progressive sounding track that's very much my style. I hope to have many future releases on the label, but first, I hope you enjoy Rockin' 😊
