We spoke to one of our dear artists and friends - Aiko Inoue, just days before her Dobar House debut in Barbarella's
-
Who are you, and what do you do?
I am a dj/producer from Tokyo. I have been playing regular parties at 'OATH', 'TUNNEL' and other places that support the underground scene in Tokyo, and for the past 4 years I have been expanding my activities to Europe, playing gigs in Barcelona, Paris, Munich and other cities with the support of my friends.
You already have two releases on Dobar House. Tell us about what inspires you to make music, and what track of yours is your favourite?
I am very honored to have released two EPs through Dobar house. My music is inspired by Sam divine's radio show and the innovative music of DJ Sneak, influenced by the Chicago house music of the 70s-90s.
My current favorite is "My Turn" on the second EP.
Where was your favourite gig so far and why was it special for you?
It was my first and last gig in the main room of "VISION", a club I went to for years. (It closed 2022) I think the gig a few days before the closing was an extreme expression of my love for the club, my music, and the dance floor.
If you had to choose: DJ-ing or producing?
I'll choose DJ. I like seeing people's actual reactions on the dance floor. I would be happy if I could make someone smile by playing music.
What's next for you in the coming months?
To move my base to Europe. Furthermore, I strongly want to focus on producing, releasing, getting known by many people, and bringing the magic and love of house music through my own filter to as many people as possible.
Why is Dobar House the best label on the planet earth?
I feel a connection with all of humanity, through house music, beyond dance.
I think it is because of the great humanity of the people who lead Dobar house.
Aiko
