Next up in our weekly artist highlight, a DJ and producer of Croatian roots based in London - Narda!
Who are you, and what do you do?
I am Adrian and I make house music sometimes under the name Narda.
How did your latest release on Dobar House came to be? Tell us about how you started the track, what inspired you etc.
Tōnis and I make music on a regular basis and after I finished my sample pack (Demure on Zenhiser), we decided to work on some tracks using my sounds. Quicksand came together quickly, since everything felt right as we added each new element. When I Dance felt more difficult since we went for a style that was more minimal than either of us are used to.
Where was your favourite gig so far and why was it special for you?
That would have to be Headmovin Delta Fest at Opuzen and the Neretva delta. Delta Fest 2010 was my first ever live gig as a DJ at 16 years old. The event brought together every active house DJ in Croatia and some international guests every year. I was proud to play there almost every year it was on until the last one in 2017. Delta Fest 2014 was my favourite set there as a closer, where I played the longest set until the sun came up. Along with the usual energetic house music, I took the opportunity to branch out and play some different styles after sunrise.
If you had to choose: DJ-ing or producing?
Producing is less of a momentary high but more rewarding to me over the long term, while DJing is euphoria in the moment. Hard question.
What's next for you in the coming months?
More tracks to come from more collaborations, including with Tōnis. Gigs coming up in summer as always. Also working on new styles of music under a new alias.
Why is Dobar House the best label on the planet earth?
Promoting local talent is so important and Dobar House is doing that for our region.
