New York-based duo Into It recently made their Dobar House debut with Love My Groove EP, so we had a little chat with them.
Who are you, and what do you do?
Into It is a New York City based duo made up of Dex Frederick and Henry Eckhouse. Like many in the creative space, they both have other jobs to help to fund their love of music. Dex studied interior architecture and works in residential building. He started listening to electronic music in middle school with likes of Dada Life, Deadmau5, and Royksöpp. Henry studied finance and works in commercial real estate. His love of house music started at a young age while listening to Armand Van Helden, Eric Prydz, and Fatboy Slim as his mum would cook dinner.
How did your latest release on Dobar House come to life? Tell us about how you started the track, what inspired you etc.
The first track we made in this EP was "My House." Dex started the track aiming to create a classic house vibe with deep chords. Love You Baby and Guitar Groove were crafted aiming to create more dance-driven tracks. Both tracks are quite minimal with vocals, so we tried to focus on groove and sudden switches to keep it moving.
Where was your favourite gig so far and why was it special for you?
We opened for Max Styler at a Gray Area event in Brooklyn that felt pretty special. It was the vibe on that day that just felt like we had accomplished something we should be proud of doing.
If you had to choose: DJing or producing?
Producing. And that's because with producing comes DJing. DJing is a load of fun, but it really feels like a reward for the time we invest in the studio. It's also really something to play a track you made and watch people hear it for the first time.
What's next for you in the coming months?
More production is on the horizon. We have a couple of tracks we just finished that we hope to release later this year, and we'll see what comes after.
Why is Dobar House the best label on the planet earth?
Dobar House is great for a couple of reasons. We feel it really provides an opportunity for small artists to release authentic music on a label that provides a great network of listeners. Dobar also genuinely cares. A lot of labels listen to demos and fail to reply or don't listen at all to demo submissions, while Dobar has offered us constructive criticism and feedback at times, which is greatly appreciated. Lastly, we love the music released on it; we think it just has the "vibe" that you can't always find on labels.
